Fatal Traffic Collision

Thu. May 28th 2009

On Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 12:08 PM Rescue Units from the Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department, Novato Fire District and Shell Vista Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Highway 37 and Highway 121. It was reported that there were injuries to the involved parties.

Upon arrival Rescue Units found two involved vehicles. Witnesses to the collision stated that a passenger vehicle traveling at the posted speed limit appeared to veer off of the roadway into the shoulder. The passenger vehicle then collided with a disabled commercial vehicle. Witnesses stated that the driver of the passenger vehicle appeared unconscious as the vehicle veered off the roadway.

The solo passenger inside the commercial vehicle was uninjured in the collision. The driver of the passenger vehicle died on scene while Fire Department personnel attempted rescue.

The cause of this collision is unclear and under investigation by the Marin Office of the California Highway Patrol.
